Maxwell works at the intersection of art and science, drawing on his background as a physicist and abstract expressionist painter. He takes a first principles approach to aesthetic design, considering the fundamental nature of light, space, sound and motion.
Having lived in five countries across three continents by the age of 12, he developed an early fascination with the myriad cultural perspectives that our world offers. Drawing on a lifelong study of mythology, philosophy, and global wisdom traditions, he develops visual and spatial concepts that explore the deeper layers of storytelling and the human condition.
Maxwell brings ideas into physical form through hands-on craftsmanship, with experience in woodworking, bookbinding, set building, and complex experimental designs in the physics laboratory. Driven by a constant curiosity to learn new creative techniques, he approaches making as an essential part of the design process
